Notting Hill Housing remains fully committed to the regeneration of the Aylesbury Estate and, in partnership with Southwark Council, creating thousands of affordable homes for local people who need them.

It was recently announced that, although the Secretary of State agrees that the redevelopment of the estate is the right approach, he has decided not to confirm the Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) of the eight remaining properties on the next planned redevelopment site, which includes Bradenham, Chartridge, Chiltern and Arklow House.

We share the Council’s disappointment with this outcome, however, the CPO decision does not prevent the regeneration from progressing. 

Our demolition contractor is gearing up to demolish those residential blocks that are already empty. This includes Bradenham, 69-76, 77-105, and 106-119 Chartridge on the First Development site, as well as 300-313 Missenden and the blue huts on the site known as Plot 18, that will make way for a new public square with a library, medical centre and early-years facilities. 

It is vital that we push ahead with the regeneration programme to enable the delivery of new homes for social rent and community facilities, as well as generating a large number of new jobs and training opportunities for Southwark residents.
